ABOUT YOUR COUNSELLOR
My name is Kim and I am passionate about facilitating the journey of healing, restoration and breakthrough!
I graduated with a B.A Psychology Honours degree (cum laude) and then also completed my Higher Diploma of Education (PGCE) to qualify as a teacher in 1999.
For over 15 years, I have gained invaluable counselling experience in a variety of settings. Apart from counselling adults, I have also worked as a Guidance Counsellor in both Primary and High Schools, lead Christian women’s groups, been involved with discipling, mentoring and counselling young adults while lecturing in China, and running my own counselling practice in the Eastern Cape.
I have also qualified as an Approved Counselling Therapist through the Blackford Centre for Counselling (U.K) and am a Registered Counsellor with the Council for Counsellors South Africa.
For four years, I lived as a Missionary in Asia, during which time, I also thoroughly enjoyed being part of multicultural teams that travelled through various Eastern countries doing healing and evangelism ministry. Aside from ministering to others, in that time, God taught me so much more about Faith, Hearing His voice, Obedience and Intimacy with Him. He also broke my heart for those who are lost, hurting and broken.
I am passionate about bringing His children into a place of renewed awareness of His love and deeper intimacy with Him.
My counselling style is integrative– incorporating the use of various tools, including prophetic and healing prayer. I enjoy giving both counsel and guidance into ways on how to improve one’s complete well-being – mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically.
After having gone through my own challenges in health -dealing with the auto-immune disease called Hashimoto’s Disease and trying to start a family, I particularly enjoy helping those who have experienced or are currently dealing with any of the following:
- Infertility or struggling to conceive
- Traumatic Birth Experience
- Dealing with an autoimmune disease
However, I am also able to assist with a variety of issues such as:
- Feeling stuck in a rut/ needing life direction
- Chronic Illness
- Growing Spiritually and more…
Aside from completing a variety of courses over the years, particularly in Nutrition and Nutritional Supplements, I have also qualified as an Advanced Reflexology Therapist, and so am able to assist in bringing relief for various ailments through the Reflexology Sessions and some Nutritional guidance. I also like to incorporate the amazing power of Essential Oils in my sessions where applicable.
It is important to note that I am not a Medical Practitioner, Psychologist or Psychiatrist. This means that I cannot make any diagnoses or provide you with any medical ‘treatment’. I can, however, with your permission, recommend or refer you on to a suitable specialist if needed.
I am happy to make myself available to partner with you as we work together in moving towards your breakthrough and freedom.
“Kim listened, really listened to my deep soul, and with God’s help picked out issues I was not even discussing at the time. Only God knew those details, so tuned into God Kim was that she voiced them to me…The present problem might not have been immediately repaired because that was out of my control, but my mindset and attitude was changed, allowing me to view it objectively, cope with it, and leave it in God’s hands instead of taking the weight of it myself. Kim is gifted by God for this work. She has God given intuition that somehow helps her discern people’s problems plus see a way forward of healing. Her passion in this area drives her to help people onto a happier level, with an ever open heart to God’s promptings of love and assistance. ” Bridget Kroger, East London

No one can deny the benefits of having an opportunity to share what’s on your heart with someone else. There is a definite sense of relief in the idea of a shared burden, not feeling alone, being heard and feeling understood.
Counselling is so much more than just “having a problem and getting it fixed”. Many people view counselling as a “crutch” only for those who must have major “issues” and are too weak to cope on their own. It is sad that there is such a negative perception of Counselling when in fact, it can be so beneficial to one’s well-being.
Counselling offers one a safe and secure platform to speak freely and discuss any area of your life, with a trained professional who will respond to your concerns in an objective and caring manner. Not only may one gain comfort and relief, but also guidance and greater awareness of one’s self. Often, practical coping tools and strategies are taught, just as a Life Coach might do. Other benefits may include an improvement in communication and coping skills; strengthening of self-esteem; behaviour changes and improved health in many areas.
A point in the right direction may be all that one needs when feeling a bit lost or stuck. Or perhaps a bit of inspiration to make a big life change could be what’s needed. Overall, Counselling provides you with a confidant to walk alongside you on your journey and to be there to support and encourage you.
In relation to Christian counselling, you have a prayer partner who can help you to tap into what God is saying about your particular situation and to hear what tools and guidance He is providing for you. God always has strategies on hand for whatever you are facing. I love to help guide people to discover what those strategies are and how to implement them.
